Scherer, Dietmar Franz (1970)
Dr. Dietmar Franz Scherer is the Senior Vice President of Strategy Technical Development at AUDI. From 1990 to 1996, Scherer studied process technology at the University of Stuttgart.
Bense, Max (1910-1990)
Max Bense was a German Philosopher, writer, publicist and mathematician. In 1949, he was a visiting professor and in 1950 he was an associate professor for philosphy and philosophy of science at the former Polytechnic University (today: University of Stuttgart).
Bullinger, Hans-Jörg (1944)
Hans-Jörg Bullinger studied Mechanical Engineering and did his doctorate at the University of Stuttgart in 1974. In 1998, he got his Order of the Federal Republic of Germany ("Bundesverdienstkreuz"), medal and ribbon, and in 2003 the First Class Order of the Federal Republic of Germany ("Bundesverdienstkreuz 1. Denner, Volkmar (1956)
Volkmar Denner is a German manager and CEO of Robert Bosch. From 1975 to 1981, he studied physics at the University of Stuttgart.
Döhl, Reinhard (1934-2004)
Reinhard Döhl was a German literary and media scholar. He studied German Literature, Philosophy, History, Political Science in Stuttgart and Göttingen.
Dürr, Hans-Peter (1929-2014)
Hans-Peter Dürr was a German physicist and essayist. He studied Physics at the former Polytechnic University (today: University of Stuttgart) and got his diploma in 1953.
Eisenmann, Susanne (1964)
Susanne Eisenmann is a German politician from the CDU party. From 1984 to 1990, Eisenmann studied German, linguistics , and political science at the University of Stuttgart. She was mayor of culture, schooling, and sports of the city of Stuttgart. From 2016 to 2021 she was the minister for culture, youth, and sports in Baden-Württemberg. In the 2021 state election, Eisenmann was her party‘s primary candidate for the Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg.
Ertl, Gerhard (1936)
Gerhard Ertl is a German physicist and is also specialized in surface chemistry. He studied Physics at the former Polytechnic University (today: University of Stuttgart). 2007, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
Feldtkeller, Richard (1901-1981)
Richard Feldtkeller was a German physicist and electrical engineer. From 1936 to 1966 he tought and conducted his research at the former Polytechnic University (today: University of Stuttgart). The article is only available in German.
Grafarend, Erik Wilhelm (1939)
Erik Wilhelm Grafarend was a German geodesist and a professor emiritus at the University of Stuttgart. The article is only available in German.
Gruber, Rüdiger (1951)
Rüdiger Grube is a German manager and was the chairman of the Deutsche Bahn between 2009 and 2017. In 2012, Grube was appointed honorary senator of the University of Stuttgart for his support of young engineers and his personal dedication to his work.

Dietrich Haarer is a German physicist. He studied Physics at the former Polytechnic University (today: University of Stuttgart). The article is only available in German.
Haken, Hermann (1927)
Hermann Haken is a German physicist. He is a professor emiritus at the "1. Institut für Theoretische Physik".
Hamburger, Käte (1896-1992)
Käte Hamburger was a German literary scholar and philosopher. She was an associate professor at the Univeristy of Stuttgart.
Harms, Jörg Menno (1939)
Jörg Menno Harms is a german manager and electrical engineer. Harms studied electrical engineering at the University of Stuttgart from 1961 to 1967. From 1993 to 2000 and between 2002 and 2004, Harms was CEO of Hewlett Packard (HP Inc.). He later took over the role as chairman oft he board of the supervisory board.
Heuer, Rolf-Dieter (1948)
Rolf-Dieter Heuer is a German physicist. He studied at the University of Stuttgart from 1969 to 1974. From January of 2009 until December of 2015, he was the president of CERN and from 2016 to 2018 he was president of the German Physics Society (DPG).
Heuss, Theodor (1884-1963)
Theodor Heuss was the first Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany. He was a German political scientist and journalist. For two years, he tought History at the Polytechnic University (today: University of Stuttgart). In addition, he is a Honorary Doctor at the University of Stuttgart. Hubbert, Jürgen (1939-2021)
Jürgen Hubbert was a mechanical engineer and manager. He was a member of the former DaimlerChrysler AG management board from December 16th 1998 to April 6th 2005. He studied at the University of Stuttgart and graduated with a Master in Engineering in 1965.
Leonhardt, Fritz (1909-1999)
Fritz Leonhardt was one of the most influential German civil engineer. He studied and did his doctorate of Civil Engineering at the Polytechnic University (today: University of Stuttgart).
Mann, Golo (1909-1994)
Golo Mann was a German-Swiss political scientist, philosopher and historian. He was an associate professor at the Polytechnic University (today: University of Stuttgart).
Merbold, Ulf Dietrich (1941)
Ulf Dietrich Merbold is a German physicist and a former astronaut. He studied, got his diploma and did his doctorate at the University of Stuttgart.
Otto, Frei Paul (1925-2015)
Frei Paul Otto was a German architect. In 1964, he tought at the Polytechnic University (today: University of Stuttgart). At the same time, he founded the Institute for Lightweight Structures and Conceptual Design (ILEK) at the University of Stuttgart.
Ramsayer, Karl Heinrich (1911-1982)
Karl Heinrich Ramsayer was a German geodesist. First, he was a professor and then an associate and full professor at the Polytechnic University (today: University of Stuttgart). Finally, he was the Head of Department at the Institute of Geodesy (GIS) of the University of Stuttgart.
Sänger, Eugen (1905-1964)
Eugen Sänger was an austrian Civil Engineer and a pioneer of aerospace. In 1957 he was a professor at the University of Stuttgart. The article is only available in German.
Scheer, Hermann (1944-2010)
Dr. Hermann Scheer was a German politician. From 1972 to 1976 , he was a scientific assistant at the University of Stuttgart. Scheer was a member of the German parliament. In 1999, he was awarded the Right Livelihood Award for his efforts in the field of renewable energies.
Scholl, Hermann (1935)
Hermann Scholl is a German industrialist. He was the chairman of Robert Bosch from 1993 to 2003. After his degree in electronic technology at the University of Stuttgart, he received his PhD there in 1961.
Stihl, Hans Peter (1932)
Hans Peter Stihl is a German industrialist and was chairman oft he executive board of the Stihl GmbH from 1973 to 2002. In 1982, he was awarded the Bundesverdienstkreuz of the German republic. From 1952 until 1957, Stihl studied mechanical engineering at the University of Stuttgart.
Störmer, Horst Ludwig (1949)
Horst Ludwig Störmer is a German physicist and was awarded the 1998 Nobel Prize in Physics. In 1977 he did his doctorate at the University of Stuttgart.
Unterberger, Martin (1958)
Dr. Martin Unterberger has been the leader of the IT-Audit at Porsche since 2013. He studied electronic and informational technology at the University of Stuttgart from 1979 to 1985.
Weber, Jürgen (1941)
Jürgen Weber is a German aeronautical engineer and manager. He studied aeronautical engineering at the Polytechnic University (today: University of Stuttgart). The article is only available in German.
Winterkorn, Martin (1947)
Martin Winterkorn is a German former manager at the automotive industry (former Chief Executive of Volkswagen, Porsche Automobil Holding SE and former Chairman of the Board at Audi AG). He studied Metallurgy and Metal Physics at the University of Stuttgart.
