September 14, 2020

Rector Prof. Wolfram Ressel and Vice Rector Prof. Peter Middendorf will be part of the live expert panel of the State Ministry

In 2017, the state government of Baden-Wuerttemberg initiated the “Strategy Dialog on the Automotive Industry” in cooperation with industry, science, employee associations, and civil society organizations. Over a period of seven years, cross-industry projects, measures, and concepts will be developed to successfully shape the transformation process of the automotive industry in Baden-Wuerttemberg. A conference will now be held where experts discuss interim results and the future of mobility.

In topic area VI: Research and Innovation Environment, the University of Stuttgart is well represented. Rector Wolfram Ressel and Vice Rector for Knowledge and Technology Transfer Peter Middendorf will be providing information on the focal points of the flagship projects “The Future of Mobility Innovation Campus” and “Mobility Living Lab” (MobiLab), which are supported by the Baden-Wuerttemberg Ministry of Science (MWK). The Innovation Campus is a joint project of the University of Stuttgart and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). In this project, the two universities combine complementary competencies in basic research and technology transfer. The University of Stuttgart plays a pioneering role in research for the mobility of the future. Trend-setting technologies are being implemented within the framework of the multifaceted MobiLab living laboratory, where novel means of transport such as autonomous shuttles and e-scooters, future-oriented electric drive systems, and smart energy systems are combined. The aim is to achieve climate-neutral mobility at the University of Stuttgart by 2035.

The expert panel on the strategic relevance of the projects will take place on Thursday, 17 September, from 11:55 a.m. to 12:25 p.m., and will be moderated by Birgit Primer, Editor-in-Chief of the industry magazine “auto motor und sport”. The discussion will be broadcast from a TV studio in the International Congress Center Stuttgart.
