The University of Stuttgart at the GAIN Network Conference

For German researchers currently working in North America who wish to continue their careers in Germany, the annual conference of the German Academic International Network (GAIN) in San Francisco is the premier forum. Rector Prof. Peter Middendorf and the Director of the Office of International Affairs, Marion Höcke, will travel to the networking conference in late August to present the University of Stuttgart as a renowned research institution and an attractive employer that offers a wide variety of career opportunities.

Rector Peter Middendorf will contribute to the conference workshop titled “Career Development in a Challenging Geopolitical Environment.” Marion Höcke will represent the University of Stuttgart at Baden-Württemberg’s Career Lunch, which brings together participants invited by Minister Petra Olschowski to Stanford University. This is aimed at young doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers who are interested in pursuing a career in Baden-Württemberg.

The University of Stuttgart will have an information stand at the Talent Fair held in conjunction with the annual conference. A visit to German schools in Silicon Valley – together with other TU9 universities – is also on the agenda for 2026.

The GAIN Annual Conference is the largest networking and information platform of its kind, bringing together internationally mobile researchers from Germany with representatives from academia, politics, research funding agencies, and the business community. The conference is jointly organized by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), and the German Research Foundation (DFG).
