Retrospective: Alumni Opera Evening
In summer 2010 the University of Stuttgart invited its alumni, friends, sponsors and members to a special performance of Albert Lortzing’s romantic opera “Zar und Zimmermann” (Tsar and Carpenter). The event was part of the festival “Summer in the Züblin Building” and took place in the Züblin Building in Stuttgart-Möhringen. Conducted by the University Music Director and alumnius honorary member Veronika Stoertzenbach, the Academic Choir and the Academic Orchestra of the University of Stuttgart as well as soloists of the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart presented Lortzing’s amusing opera. Their inventive interpretation of Lortzing’s opera ensured perfect entertainment.
The performance in the beautiful glass hall of the Züblin Building was accompanied by a social program which was organised by the Alumni Network of the University of Stuttgart. Prof. Dr. Wolfram Ressel, Rector of the University of Stuttgart, opened the evening and conductor Veronika Stoertzenbach introduced into the opera. At the buffet the guests had the opportunity to meet and talk to other alumni and former fellow students.
The Alumni Opera Evening was a cooperation of the Alumni Network and the Academic Choir and the Academic Orchestra of the University of Stuttgart and was sponsored by the Association of Friends of the University of Stuttgart e. V.
