All students are confronted with the question of what will happen after graduation and what their professional career will look like. They have multiple choices: Being employed, working freelance, or becoming their own boss by founding an own company with a creative and innovative idea. Starting a business brings about many advantages. However, the founders also face many challenges.

The University of Stuttgart, in close cooperation with the TTI GmbH (abbreviation for German "Technologie-Transfer-Initiative", rough translation: technology transfer initiative), promotes the entrepreneurial spirit of its students and supports them to found their own company. This way, many students of the University of Stuttgart were able to start their own businesses. Application of Lasers is already widespread in the modern society. It's not only used in industrial production processes, but also in the field of entertainment, medicine, research and military. With the help of laser beams unique, innovative processes can be realised. MarTec Photonics develops optics for laser manufacturers for exactly those purposes.

The Company was founded by an alumnus of the University of Stuttgart: Dr. Martin Rumpel.

Two graduates of the University of Stuttgart, Dr. Helmut Fedder, the CEO of Swabian Instruments, and Dr. Michael Schlagmüller, won the Innovation Award 2018, awarded by the State of Baden-Württemberg, with their new startup company Swabian Instruments, based in Schwieberdingen. Fedder and his colleague Dr. Michael Schlagmüller are former doctoral students from the working group on quantum technology and quantum sensor technology led by Professor Jörg Wrachtrup and Professor Tilman Pfau from the University of Stuttgart.

Swabian Instruments develops high-precision measuring devices, which are used in microscopy, new quantum technologies and other fields. Their clients are large research institutions all around the world, including the Max Planck Institute and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

EKU Power Drives GmbH develops more effective and resource-saving power train solutions for industrial applications.

Dipl.-Ing. Leonardo Uriona is the CEO & Co-founder of EKU Power Drives. He graduated from the masters program of Electrical Engineering at the University of Stuttgart.

Dipl.-Ing. Edward Eichstetter is the COO & Co-founder of EKU Power Drives. He also graduated from the masters program of Electrical Engineering at the University of Stuttgart.

Dipl.-Ing. Manuel Klein is the CTO & Co-founder of EKU Power Drives. He achieved his masters degree as Mechanical Engineer at the University of Stuttgart.

TruPhysics was founded in 2015 by alumni of the University of Stuttgart. The company is specialized in real-time physics simulation and machine learning algorithms.

Albert Groz is the commercial manager of TruPhysics. He studied Technology Management at the University of Stuttgart.

Dipl.-Inf. Fabian Aichele is the technical manager of TruPhysics. He studied at the University of Stuttgart.

Dipl.-Inf. Bernd Eckstein worked as software developer at the University of Stuttgart for seven years. His tasks within the team are, inter alia, the implementation of data interfaces, connecting robot control systems, operating concepts and usability.

Dr. rer. nat. Björn Schenke gained his PhD in the field of non-linear dynamics at the University of Stuttgart. His tasks within the company are mechanics and simulation and mathematical numericals.

e-buddy manufactures electric-powered walkers with comfort and safety functions.

Dipl.-Ing. Daniel Reiser studied mechanical engineering at the University of Stuttgart and is responsible for the mechanical development, legal concerns and the management of the company.

Dipl.-Ing. Max Keßler also studied mechanical engineering at the University of Stuttgart. He is responsible for the electronical engineering and the controlling of the software.

The Meshparts GmbH aims to become the standard simulation software for large mechanical assemblies with a focus on mechanical engineering.

Alexandru Dadalau is the Managing Director Development within the company. He is a graduate of the mechatronics degree program at the University of Stuttgart. After graduating, he was a research assistant and doctoral student at the Institute for Control Technology of Machine Tools and Production Equipment (ISW) of the University of Stuttgart.
